Columbia, MD, Feb 14, 2025 – Vectorworks, Inc. has announced a leadership transition. Dr. Biplab Sarkar, CEO, will retire in Mar 2025 after a 25-year tenure. Jason Pletcher, COO and CFO at fellow Nemetschek brand, GoCanvas, will step into the CEO role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sarkar joined Vectorworks in 2000, initially as manager of geometry and rendering, and later became chief technology officer before being appointed CEO in 2016. Under his leadership, the company transformed into a global innovative 3D design software provider, expanding to over 300 employees. He played a key role in positioning Vectorworks as a top choice for various design areas. He updated the Vectorworks codebase, integrated high-quality technology underpinnings, and pushed development beyond industry benchmarks. As CEO, Dr. Sarkar also spearheaded the company\u2019s international expansion into markets like the UK, Canada, Australia, and Japan while guiding its transition to a subscription-based business model that fostered continued growth and technological innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sarkar steps down, and Vectorworks has announced Jason Pletcher as the new CEO. Pletcher has extensive leadership experience. He recently held the role of chief operating and financial officer at GoCanvas. During his time there, he played a key role in increasing the company\u2019s business nearly fourfold over five years. Prior to GoCanvas, he helped grow and shape Hobsons (EdTech) and Genscape (Energy Information) while serving as CFO. His career also includes 14 years at Capital One Financial, spanning operations, finance, product management, corporate development, and strategy. Pletcher began his career at Bain & Company, focusing on corporate strategy in the technology and telecommunications sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
